Session Level Definition

The Lexington Pickleball Club arrange our open play sessions into three general groups, defined by the pickleball skill level of the players aligned with the USAP ratings guideline.

We divide our sessions into these levels. These are some general observation of the players at these levels. We understand that everyone is getting better all the time and will progress from one level to the next.

2.0 - 3.0

These players have knowledge of the common rules of Pickleball, know how to keep score, can serve and return to start a rally, and can sustain a short rally with players of similar abilities.

3.25 - 3.5

These players start to develop consistency in forehand, backhand strokes with some directional control. Points are not won nor lost due to bad serves. They are working towards a softer game, making attempts to get to the non volley zone. They can sustain a rally for 10 or more exchanges sometime with players of similar abilities.

3.75+

These players start to play a controlled game - switching between hard and soft shots. Team works as a unit with tactical positioning. Players can hit fast hard shots and return them. They do not mind getting tagged with a ball. They can safely hit a ball at their opponent under control.
